From PA's Road to BC ONE / 6 Outfits Vid (link: http://youtu.be/oB8ieRsV2MM)

A study recently done by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and reported briefly by Human Kinetics shows that individuals that engage in modern dance will show an overall healthier distribution of body fat. While looking at a very confined group and looking at a few specific details, the study still serves as a good example of the importance of engaging in activity as a part of maintaining a healthy body and lifestyle. If it’s something you enjoy it makes it all the more better to take part in.

And while on the topic of dance, take a look at Paranoid Android of Knuckleheads Cali. I found this to be an interesting interview, not only because of his unique style in dancing but in regards to his approach with bboying. “What we’re doing now is a professional sport and needs to be approached as so.” Well said, and also very true. Check out the interview below and take a look at his blog as well. Really good knowledge he’s putting down, and interesting thoughts behind his training and experiences in the art. This series of videos from Ido displays the main goals I have in training my ability to move. He has a (really good) tendency to display moves that are extremely simple in its philosophy and execution, but he does it with a sense of self-awareness and self control that most individuals struggle to develop. The other thing that amazes me about Ido is his ability to create a symmetry that carries through all of his movements. Even when he does more complex skill sets, he does it with the emphasis that it should be done equally as well on either side. This ties into the idea of a complete martial artist being able to execute a skill equally as well on his “weak” side as if it were his strong side.

Hopefully you’re inspired by seeing this just as much as I am.

I’ve been slacking off on the blog for the last week or so… but with good reason. School’s kicked in, so this means I get to be educated and you readers get to feed off of the knowledge I’m paying so dearly for (please don’t send me emails asking about tuition costs…lol).

Here’s a video to occupy some time until my next post. I sort of stumbled upon this by accident. It shows some interesting variations in performing pistols (single leg squats). I was pretty amazed when I got to 1:48 of the video. If it doesn’t intrigue you, try doing one of these on flat ground, then come back and watch the vid again.

I do have a few (hopefully interesting) posts in mind so please do keep checking. And as a perfect example from today, I do tend to post random stuff I find on the internet (check the last post for example). I’m also expanding some of the categories that I’ll be exploring in the wonderful world of movement. Tell your friends about this blog. It’s meant for you to share, so please feel free to do so.

PEACE!

MF!
